About FLIO - Lee Lubbers

Background

There is a critical shortage of foreign language expertise by U.S. citizens. We need more Americans to be conversant and culturally aware of other countries and their people. This adversely impacts our ability to trade with countries in business and our government to manage foreign relations. Supporting FLIO will aid the self interests of business and promote good relations with the U.S. There are hundreds of languages and dialects spoken in the world, yet over 90% of U.S. language students are taught only four – Spanish, French, German and Italian.
